Ms. Anne Marie
Owner & Director
Ms. Anne Marie started dancing at the age of two with the famous Gayle and Phyllis Tutterow. She was asked to be a demonstrator by the age of 9 and the an assistant teacher. In 1987, she was asked to become a member of the teaching faculty. Anne Marie has taught and choreographed dance for the Clearwater High School Drama Department. She enjoyed and learned so much being taught by Gayle Tutterow, the world famous “TAP MASTER”, Henry LaTang, Danny Hoctor, and Tommy Walsh. She has performed with a dance troupe in Las Vegas, Disney World, Epcot, Sea World, Busch Gardens, Disneyland, Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, Denmark, Russia, The World’s Fair in Spain, as well as winning The National Grand Champion at Hoctor’s Dance Competition two years in a row. Anne Marie is the Children’s Director at Faith United Methodist Church in downtown Largo, leading the children in singing and directing plays, teaching Sunday School, as well as choreographing and directing the Liturgical Dance group for the church. She has a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of South Florida. She is employed by the Pinellas County School System as a teacher at Garrison Jones Elementary. She loves working with the younger students and enjoys watching then mature into highly skilled performers. One of her true passions is being able to take an idea or thought and make it come to life through her creative choreography. Ms. Anne Marie currently teaches jazz & tap.
Ballet & Children's Instructor
Originally from Arizona, she began her ballet training at the Southern Arizona Dance Theater as a Junior Company member under the instruction of Jane Matty-Willet and Allison and Rodney Gustafson. After moving to Florida, she continued her studies at the Pinellas County Center for the Arts, Stagecraft and Academy of Ballet Arts. Here she developed a love for other genres including modern, Russian and Spanish character dancing. After graduating from high school, she joined CoMotion Dance theatre, a modern company based out of St Petersburg College. During her time with the company, she was the recipient of the first CoMotion dance scholarship, the Most Valuable Dancer award, and performed as a guest artist with Moving Current. Allison has attended master classes with the Alvin Ailey Company, the Juilliard School, John Parks, Jory Hancock, Melissa Lowe and the White Oak Dance Project. She has been choreographed by and studied with Peter Kalivas, Patricia Paige, Cynthia Hennessy, Nancy Smith, Suzanne Pomerantzeff, Wagih Aboella, Matt Caudill, Collette Harding, Elsa Valbuena and Erin Cardinal-Wright. From 2003 to 2008 she was a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning cheerleaders and attended a professional cheerleading convention, All Pro, in 2006 and 2007 where she learned choreography from NFL, AFL and NBA teams around the U.S. Allison was a member of the original Tampa Bay Dance FX family from 1999-2001 and returned again in 2011.
Hip Hop Instructor
Ms. Cheryl has studied dance extensively since the age of 3, including ballet, tap and jazz, as well as hip-hop, funk, pom, modern and musical theater. As a dancer/singer, Cheryl has performed roles in “Sophisticated Ladies:, “The Wiz”, “Cats Medley”, “42nd Street”, “A Dance for the Hood”, and she has performed as a member of several dance troupes. Cheryl has been instructing and choreographing for 20 years, and has brought home numerous awards, including First Place Awards at the Hoctor’s Dance Competition in Las Vegas, Nevada, and The Hip Hop Excellence award at Dance Explosion in Orlando, FL. For thirteen months she was featured as an Empress Showgirl on Empress Cruise Lines, where she performed “Hooray for Hollywood” and “Viva Las Vegas”, which were produced by Bonnie Gray. She also toured with the vaudeville classic, “The Best of Burlesque” four years in a row, which was produced by D & S Productions. Cheryl is a graduate of the University of South Florida, and was a member and Captain of USF’s dance team, ‘The Sundolls’. Cheryl is currently teaching hip hop and jazz at Tampa Bay’s Dance FX, and occasionally performs with Bonnie Gray Productions.
Jazz & Children's Instructor
Ms. Melanie began dancing at the age of 3. She joined Dance FX in 2000 and began competing. She has traveled to places including Texas, Tennessee, Las Vegas and Orlando to compete at a variety of national competitions. After college she worked as a dancer at Busch Gardens for 2 years. Ms. Melanie graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelors degree in elementary education and currently teaches first grade in Pinellas County. After dancing with Dance FX for 10 years, she is happy to be back as a part of the faculty.
